SERVICES

Physical therapy is an ever-evolving field and patients respond differently to various interventions. Through a thorough evaluation of the body as a whole, we can identify musculoskeletal asymmetries, weakness, stiffness, and faulty movement patterns in order to determine contributors to your pain and dysfunction. ISM will discuss their findings with you, the patient, and create a specific treatment plan utilizing a multitude of effective and research-based interventions that are right for you.

Considering surgery can be intimidating and patients often don't know what to expect. At ISM, we have comprehensive knowledge and experience to guide you through the process from prior to surgery, to the day after, and all the way through the end of your recovery.

Dry Needling (DN) is utilized to manage neuromuskuloskeletal pain and movement impairments. It is performed by skilled, trained physical therapists using a thin monofilament needle to target myofascial trigger points in efforts of decreasing pain, improving range of motion, and restoring funtional mobility..

A trained physical therapist can evaluate and treat patients with ongoing symptoms related to concussions. At ISM we will perform a concussion-specific examination to assess your neurological, orthopedic, vestibulo-ocular, and cardiovascular systems. From our findings we will be able to best prescribe a plan to address your particular impairments and utilize a science-based approach to safely returning to daily tasks, work, and sport.

BLOOD FLOW
RESTRICTION

"Be fit to run, don't run to be fit."

At ISM we perform video analysis of runners to assess for asymmetries, faulty movement patterns, excessive ground-reaction forces, and functional strength deficits. Combining these findings with results from a physical examination we can prescribe a comprehensive plan to improve efficiency, decrease absorptive stresses, and better equip the body to not only endure but thrive under the stresses of running.

SPORTS-RELATED
INJURIES

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is a technique combining low-intensity strengthening with partial blood flow occlusion to mimic the effects of high-intensity strengthening by creating a hypoxic environment. This is an especially helpful tool in patients presenting after surgery, or with prolonged musculoskelal dysfunction who cannot tolerate (or have protocols contradindicating) strengthening exercises with high loads.

It's an unfortunate truth that injuries can happen while playing sports, but they don't always have to keep us sidelined for months. Whether you're a high-school athlete with a fresh joint sprain or muscle strain, a weight-lifter with back pain, a tennis player with elbow tendinitis, or a runner with recent knee pain, ISM has the knowledge, tools, and expertise to get you back, faster.

RUNNING ANALYSIS

THROWING ANALYSIS

Throwing is considered one of the fastest human motions performed, making it all the more important to ensure proper mechanics to reduce the risk of injury. ISM utilizes video analysis coupled with a physical examination to determine contributing factors to pain and dysfunction. After discussing the results with you, ISM will provide a tailored plan to address the impairments and get you back to throwing with confidence and free of pain.

Returning to sport can be daunting following a major injury or surgery, but at ISM we have extensive knowledge and experience to get you back safely and confidently. Once patients exhibit appropriate strength for the demands of higher level training, we will gradually progress you through plyometrics, sprinting, decelerating, cutting, and sport specific motions. Throughout the process we continue to assess motion quality to ensure safe progression.

Vestibular rehabilitation is an evidence-based approach to managing vertigo, dizziness, motion sensitivity, balance, and postural control issues that occur due to vestibular (inner ear/balance) dysfunction. Through a comprehensive examination ISM will gain a better understanding of the involved systems leading to your symptoms and prescribe specific exercises to help manage them and improve your quality of life.
